At-Home Care for Dental Emergencies

Knocked Out Tooth

Rinse the tooth very gently in order to remove any unwanted debris. Then, place it back into its socket and hold it in place. If this isn't possible, place it in a cup or plastic baggie of milk and bring it with you to our office. Once you arrive, our team will be able to determine if reattachment is a possible option.

Broken Tooth

Rinse the tooth immediately with warm water. Then, hold a cold compress to your cheek on the way to our office in order to keep swelling to a minimum.

Temporary Crown Comes Loose

Do you still have the crown? If so, dry the tooth, apply a small amount of toothpaste to the temporary, and then gently reattach it. Temporary adhesive or dental wax from your local pharmacy can also be used. This will protect the tooth in question until you’re able to reach our office.

Serious Toothache

Rinse your mouth, paying special attention to the area around the hurting tooth. Also, floss thoroughly to make sure that no caught food particles are causing the problem. If the pain persists, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
